Dubai Schools Project Hits 50% Completion Milestone: A Glimpse into the Future of Education

In a monumental stride toward redefining the educational landscape, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, has greenlit a groundbreaking expansion plan for the Dubai Schools project. The visionary move, in alignment with Dubai Social Agenda 33, underscores a commitment to revolutionizing the education sector, nurturing future leaders, and empowering the youth.

The approved expansion plan is poised to introduce a remarkable addition of over 6,400 seats, 295 classrooms, and 123 laboratories and specialized classrooms. This strategic initiative not only addresses the pressing demand for educational infrastructure but also propels Dubai schools toward a future where excellence is not just encouraged but guaranteed. The expansion project ambitiously aims to elevate the total number of seats offered by Dubai Schools to an impressive 15,000 by the year 2033.

Sheikh Hamdan, in articulating the vision, remarked, “Aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, we are committed to establishing an innovative education system in Dubai that is capable of nurturing and empowering capable future leaders. Our ongoing commitment to creating a world-leading education system in Dubai aligns with the Dubai Social Agenda 33, under the theme ‘Family: The Foundation of the Nation.’”

This expansion holds profound implications for the landscape of education in Dubai. Not only does it signify a numerical increase in capacity, but it also underscores a qualitative enhancement in educational offerings. Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of educational excellence and arming the youth with the skills and knowledge required to navigate a rapidly evolving global landscape.

The Dubai Schools project's expansion is strategically aligned with the overarching goals of Dubai Social Agenda 33, a comprehensive initiative aimed at positioning Dubai among the world's top 10 cities in various domains. The focal point of this educational initiative is to build a world-class education system by increasing the number of schools and available seats, investing in cutting-edge technologies and facilities, and promoting innovation and creativity within the classroom.

Launched in March 2021 under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan, the Dubai Schools project is designed to provide an innovative school model that offers high-quality education at an affordable cost. It envisions creating a new Emirati schooling system that upholds a high standard of education rooted in national values.

Two notable outcomes of the Dubai Schools project, Al Khawaneej and Al Barsha schools, have already made a significant impact in their inaugural years. The project welcomed 1,205 students in its first academic year, a number that expanded to 1,965 students in the second year. By the academic year 2023/2024, the number of enrolled students had reached an impressive 2,580, showcasing the project's growing influence.

The upcoming phase of the Dubai Schools project includes the establishment of a new school in Al Khawaneej, designed to span 446,720 square feet and accommodate 4,028 students from kindergarten to grade 12. The state-of-the-art institution is being built in accordance with international standards, offering 149 classrooms, 71 laboratories, and specialized classrooms equipped with cutting-edge technologies.

The new school in Al Khawaneej is poised to be a beacon of educational excellence, featuring three indoor pools, including a semi-Olympic pool, indoor sports halls, dedicated sports halls for early years, a football pitch adhering to international standards, and five outdoor courts. Moreover, it will house an expansive 11,800 square foot library, further enhancing the overall learning environment.

Simultaneously, the expansion of the Al Barsha branch is set to fortify its capacity by adding 2,408 seats through 98 new classrooms, resulting in a total capacity of 3,520 students upon completion. This expansion project includes two indoor pools, including a semi-Olympic pool, a football pitch designed in accordance with international standards, two sports halls, seven versatile outdoor courts, a library spanning 6,800 square feet, and 52 laboratories and specialized classrooms.

As these two projects approach their halfway milestone, the Knowledge Fund Establishment and Dubai Municipality proudly announced that both initiatives have achieved a 50% completion milestone. This significant progress sets the stage for the culmination of both projects in time for the academic year 2024/2025.
